In this moment of violent authoritarianism, white nationalism in the highest levels of government, and an ever heightening capitalist crisis, many are asking: is this fascism? And yet, questions around fascism can so often obscure rather than clarify, as the scholar Roger Griffin has noted “most people ‘know what fascism’ is… until they have to explain it.”

But how do we understand fascism in the context of this historical moment? And, most importantly, if this is fascism… what do we do about it?

Join DSA-LA’s Fighting Fascism Campaign, Political Education Committee, and socialist author Fred Glass as we discuss what the concept of fascism reveals about the present moment and the opportunities for fighting back. The event will feature a presentation and Q&A with Professor Glass, who will expand on his arguments from his recent Jacobin article “What If It Is Fascism?”, along with a discussion with other DSA-LA members.
