The Jazz Mentors series connects up-and-coming musicians with some of New York City’s premier artists and industry professionals to discuss the business of jazz. Each forum features discussion led by preeminent members and leaders of the jazz community about how to build and maintain a successful music career. Located at Local 802 and other venues across the city, the informal setting allows for relaxed communication and a free-flowing exchange of ideas between the audience and the artists, encouraging full participation and interaction. The events are free and open to the public.

Jazz Mentors XVIII “Taking it On the Road: How to Put Together A Successful Tour” brings together three formidable artists to discuss the self-booked tour. Avant-garde flutist-saxophonist-composer Anna Webber has extensive experience putting together her own tours internationally and across the US. Trumpeter Keyon Harrold has frequently headlined with his own unit and this spring will be appearing across the US and in the Netherlands.  In 2012, Chris Mees founded B Natural Management and became co-owner and director of J. Chriss & Company, a New York-based jazz booking agency recognized for over 30 years of representing internationally acclaimed jazz artists. Moderated by drummer Henry Conerway III, who has toured extensively throughout the US, Europe and the Far East.
