At Hometown Organizing Project, we believe that story-sharing is the basis of community. In order to build inclusive, sustainable communities, we need to find the stories that remain buried under the hardship of severe storms and are often overlooked by those with the means to forget the importance of rural culture.

This fall, HOP members will be having conversations with rural working class Alabamians across ten different communities, sharing stories about severe weather and creating a vision for community protection.

As an attendee of this canvass launch event, you will learn more about HOP's climate protection work in 2023, as well as how to get involved in our radical climate canvassing project this fall. You will hear stories from our partners across the state, including survivors from some of the storms that have hit Alabama this year, and have space to reflect on your own relationship to severe weather and the climate crisis.
