We'll meet just before the city council meeting begins to be in solidarity with our workers and community, and make sure everyone has the latest information for when they share their own stories. Council starts around 7:00pm.

Why we need a minimum wage increase

• As the cost of living continues to grow, the statewide minimum of $14.42 per hour has failed to keep up with the demands of essentials like housing, childcare and food in Boulder County.

• Local cost of living has significantly outpaced statewide minimum wage growth. The Boulder region is suffering because workers cannot afford to live or work where employers need them most, which means that businesses cannot find enough staff to operate at full capacity.

• A higher minimum wage benefits the entire community, regardless of income. We all do better when our friends, neighbors, and community members have what they need.

• Colorado voters overwhelmingly support raising the statewide minimum wage. In 2016 when minimum wage was on the ballot, 71% of voters in Boulder County voted in support of raising the minimum wage.

Who is the Boulder County Self Sufficiency Wage Coaliton

• The coalition is composed of workers, community organizations, policy experts, faith-based organizations, and economic justice advocates who believe that Boulder County can do better and aim higher to support underpaid workers

• The coalition was formed with the intention of engaging in the mandatory stakeholder process as outlined in the 2019 law so that Boulder County and municipalities across the county can pass a minimum wage that is in line with the needs of workers across the county.

• The coalition aims to pass local minimum wage ordinances across Boulder County municipalities/towns to be implemented by January, 1, 2025. Continuing the work established by the county Commissioners in Jan of 2024.

• The coalition believes that every worker - regardless of where they come from or what they look like – deserves a living wage that allows them to support themselves and their families.
