Join the Ghost Hunt - Truro, Cornwall
Start: Thursday, July 10, 2025•04:00 PM
Ecology and Nature themed day event for families, dogs, nature enthusiasts and anyone interested to support Forestry England in restoring ancient woodlands across the Southwest.
Join RJ Working and Wild Card for this dynamic and educational event on Thursday 10th July from 4-7pm at Idless Woods, near Truro.
There will be creative outdoor activities for all ages run by local professionals and educators on the beauty and importance of restoring and caring for ancient woodlands.
The Ghost Hunt will involve:
A guided procession through your local plantations with ecologists and campaigners.
BioBlitz: become an ecologist for the day and search for the remnants (or 'ghosts'!) of the ancient woodland, including woodland species and native trees!
Art: taking inspiration from nature artist Andy Goldswothy, collectively create a piece of art using materials you find in the woodlands to represent the vast difference between timber plantations and ancient woodlands.
With just 2.6% of England’s land covered by ancient woodland and almost half of this precious habitat replaced by plantations for timber. An area greater than the Isle of Wight stands silent, waiting for the chance to burst with life again.
We believe public voices are vital for making change and we want Forestry England to see how much the community cares about ecology and nature!
This event and all activities are free, just bring some food for a potluck at 5:30pm! You don't need to have any experience to come - just a love for ancient woodlands.
