On May 11th, we’ll be writing postcards for the New York Primary from the Environmental Voter Project, a non-profit, non-partisan organization laser focused on turning low propensity voters who are likely to choose the environment as their #1 voting issue into reliable voters. They have excellent data proving that they increase voter turnout often by more than the margin from the previous election. You can watch a video explaining their work here.

Although these postcards aren’t going to directly effect Virginia elections, the idea is that if we can increase the number of environmental voters across the country, politicians will begin to listen because their jobs will be at stake if they don’t. Right now climate is not top of mind for most politicians, unless it relates to affordability, and we want to change that. Local politics are important, and we need to win nationally to make a difference.
