Next week, Senators Padilla and Butler are scheduled to return to California for the first time after voting to send another $14.5 billion to fund Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Israel threatens a debilitating ground invasion of Rafah in Southern Gaza, where 1.4 million Palestinians have fled to supposed safety.

With $14.5 billion, Israel now understands it has a blank check to continue its genocide. In less than 24 hours, the IDF has killed over 100 Palestinians in Rafah. Homes, hospitals and mosques have been targeted in one of the most barbaric massacres we have seen unleashed on the Palestinian people since the start of this genocide.

Rather than funding our communities’ actual needs—like health care, housing we can actually afford, clean air, water, and good, family-sustaining jobs with dignity— Senators Padilla and Butler have chosen to give billions of our dollars to fund the Israeli army's ongoing slaughter of Palestinian civilians.

As the Senators come back to California after voting for genocide, we’re issuing a public call for Padilla and Butler to face their constituents here in San Francisco.

We demand:

1. Immediate and permanent ceasefire now.

2. No more funds for genocide: 0 dollars for weapons or military funding to Israel. Stop arming Israel.

3. Fund care, not killing: Support humanitarian aid for Gaza immediately, and fund community needs – like healthcare, housing we can afford, clean air and water, green jobs.

4. Hands off Rafah!
