June 18 Upstander Training w/Mahoning Valley Queer Action

Start: Thursday, June 18, 202606:30 PM

Location: Calvin Center 755 Mahoning Ave. , Youngstown, OH 44502 US

Being an upstander means taking thoughtful action in defense of others being harmed — both by standing up for what is right individually and by engaging with a wider community of upstanders.

In this easy-to-learn training, you'll learn how to become an upstander to support members of the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized groups.

After this training, you will know how to assess a harmful situation, choose appropriate tactics for intervening, and most of all how to prioritize the safety, dignity, and privacy of all parties, especially those on the receiving end of harm.

Teens are welcome to attend, but they must register and attend with a guardian.

Gas cards available to those in need. RSVP and location sent 24 hours before to ensure safety of all those attending. Suitable for teenagers but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking is accessed at the back of the building via West Ave. Enter through the glass door at the top of the ramp from the parking lot.
