Kiss the Ground: Environmental Movie Night & Discussion

This Earth Week, the Syracuse Center for Peace and Social Justice, Alliance for a Green Economy, and more will be screening an environmental themed movie called Kiss the Ground, providing snacks, and selling social justice themed merchandise as a fundraiser for the Center.
Program:
6:45 pm: Doors open. Refreshments.
7:00 pm: Screening of "Kiss the Ground," a movie which follows a group of activists, scientists, farmers, and politicians who band together in a global movement to move towards regenerative agriculture to save the planet's topsoil, feed the world, and combat climate change.
8:30 pm: Panel: "What Can We Do to Fight Climate Change?"

About the panelists:
Philip P. Arnold is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Religion at Syracuse University, as well as a core faculty member of Native American and Indigenous Studies. Sandy Bigtree, Bear Clan, is a citizen of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne. Philip and Sandy were founding members of the Indigenous Values Initiative and Skä•noñh: the Great Law of Peace Center, and they support and work with the Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON). Peter Wirth is a cofounder of Climate Change Awareness & Action, a local climate change advocacy organization, and is a board member of United Solar Energy Supporters, a state-wide organization promoting the development of solar farms. Rebecca Rolnick (SUNY-ESF, B.S. Conservation Biology 2019) has taught online nature journaling classes to people all over the world to further her mission of conserving biodiversity and connecting people to nature. AJ RutherAJ Ruther (they/them) is the Organizing Coordinator for Alliance for a Green Economy (AGREE). They've helped win campaigns to pass the Build Public Renewables Act to the All-Electric Building Act, and will present on how you can help us win another critical bill to fight climate change - the NY HEAT Act. Dick Kornbluth is a retired Home Performance Contractor and serves on the Coordinating Committee of the CNY Solidarity Coalition.

Masks: Masks are optional but suggested, and will be provided for free if needed.
Suggested donation: Sliding scale admissions of at least $10 are recommended as a donation to help fundraise for the Center, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay.
