Over 2 million tenants in New York live in rent stabilized apartments, but many don't know their apartments is rent stabilized, or the rights that come along with that. Join us for a workshop on understanding rent stabilization and the official record of your apartment: Your rent history. Together we'll learn how to read your rent history, identify instances of fraud and overcharges, and how to organize with your neighbors to assert your rights.
Not sure if you're rent stabilized? Most buildings with 6 or more units built before 1974 and some newer buildings built with tax benefits have stabilized units, though many formerly rent stabilized units have been converted to market rate apartments, legally or otherwise!
To get the most out of this workshop, request your rent history beforehand so you can bring it with you. You can request it by texting RENT HISTORY to (855) 610-2450 or by visiting https://app.justfix.org/en/rh/splash. Note that it can take 2 weeks for your rent history to come in the mail so request it as soon as possible.
