Local Control, Good Jobs and Safe Streets Press Conference at LA City Hall
Start: Friday, February 02, 2024•09:00 AM

Despite robotaxis running over pedestrians, blocking first responders from their jobs and causing traffic pile-ups, the California Department of Motor Vehicles, CPUC and Governor Gavin Newsom have refused to implement significant AV safety measures. SB 915, which already has strong bipartisan support, prioritizes public safety by requiring AV companies to obtain approval through a local ordinance prior to starting operations in a given municipality.
As autonomous vehicles (AVs) continue to wreak havoc on California roads, the Teamsters Union, State Senator Dave Cortese, Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez, first responders, and many other will be holding a press conference on Friday, February 2 at 9am PT in support of Senate Bill 915 (SB 915), The Autonomous Vehicle Service Deployment and Data Transparency Act, which would give California’s local municipalities more authority over AV regulation and prioritize public safety. Join us at LA City Hall as we call on California to let us decide whether we want to share our roads with driverless cars and trucks.
