The Newton teachers’ strike was the latest in a wave of illegal teachers’ strikes in Massachusetts. For seven days, Newton educators faced down a strikebreaking mayor, legal fines, and attacks from the city’s political establishment. Last week, their solidarity won across-the-board improvements in a new three-year contract.

Join the Labor Working Group next Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30pm, to hear from activists in the Newton Teachers Association (NTA) on how the strike was organized, how it relates to the statewide teacher upsurge, and where the fight goes from here.

We’ll be meeting at 8 St. Mary’s Street, Boston University Photonics Center, Room 203, Boston, MA 02215 (thank you BU YDSA for hosting us in a location off the Green Line for our panelists coming from Newton!)

We'll also be sharing updates and ways to get involved with labor's fight for justice in Palestine, and our LWG's Solidarity, Campaign, and Local EWOC Committees.

If you're interested in getting involved beyond the meeting, you can also fill out our interest form (bit.ly/BDSAlabor), and follow us on X (x.com/BostonDSALabor).
