Let's talk about ways to #ResistTrump in our community

Start: Wednesday, July 16, 002506:00 PM

End: Wednesday, July 16, 002507:00 PM

Are you concerned about what is happening in the US right now? Looking to connect with like minded people to discuss what we can do about the changes happening around us. "Your power lies in how you respond to what happens to you." Let's look at a few options whether on a small scale or a large scale and discuss what our world is today versus what we can do to make it even better tomorrow. I would love to hear your ideas as well as sharing what I have found to be valuable. Do you have friends or a group that you have started working with? Please bring them along, I would love to hear what they have to say. Expectation for the meeting is a respectful discussion of what we can do against the current administration and their policies. To discuss these policies and break them down to who and what it affects. Bring snacks and beverages if you would like to have them. I personally am going to the leadership resistance training hosted by #Resist Trump and the information is provided below on that group. The goal after 12 weeks of training is to be able to hold non-violent protests within the laws and safely. The information about this group is below and I will go over this program at this meeting and we can discuss what we can do here in Muscatine to show our dissatisfaction for how this country is being run. Talking about it in hushed tones will never create change, the power is in your voice! In numbers we can be heard. Want to know what you can do? Let's get together and figure it out. I encourage any and all in the community who have experience to contact me and we can discuss sharing your experience with others on July 16th at 6 pm. A little about the #ResistTrump Organization: Trump told us he was willing to be a dictator on Day 1. It looks like he's making good on that wish. (Source) Nonviolent civil resistance has worked against dictators and authoritarian regimes - it worked for Gandhi, MLK, the Serbian democracy activists of the 1990s, and others. (https://www.nonviolent-conflict.org/about/civil-resistance/) The #ResistTrump Campaign believes it can work here, for us in America. Its vision is a world without Trump and his enablers in power and the campaign aims to achieve that via lawful, nonviolent civil resistance. Its values are Collaboration, Integrity, Nonpartisanship, and Professionalism. At this meeting, we'll share our concerns about rising authoritarianism in America and discuss the #ResistTrump Campaign's philosophy.
