“Making Peace with Nature is the Defining Task of the 21st Century” — UN Secretary-General António Guterres

As part of this year’s “Make Peace with Nature” series, the GreenFaith traveling exhibition “Life in Crisis - Solidarity" brings together works of art from around the world that address the impacts of the climate crisis — photographs, paintings, and poems that tell stories of loss, resilience, and hope. These are complemented by works from local artists and an intercultural program featuring live music, storytelling, and film screenings.

The program for the opening reception will be curated by Milorad Zivojnov, featuring musical performances as well as a honey tasting and a keynote talk on the effects of climate change on ecosystems, beekeeping, and agriculture in the Serbian Banat region. The Bonn-based journalist, author, and transcultural bridge-builder comes from a family of beekeepers in the region. Near his hometown lies a unique, biodiversity-rich European nature reserve, the Deliblato Sands or Banat Sand Desert, where a fierce wildfire has been raging since early August. An area of 4,000 hectares has already been destroyed by the flames. Firefighters from Romania and Germany, including a EU wildfire unit from Bonn, were on the ground in Serbia from August 24 until early September in solidarity to help fight the fire.

The exhibition is part of the Bonn Peace Days and runs through October 1.

Organizers: Bonnections Initiative + Artists4Future Bonn-Rhein/Sieg in cooperation with GreenFaith Germany, Rhein-Indus Global Forum e.V., War on Climate, and Syclan Trust.

About the GreenFaith traveling exhibition:

The “Life in Crisis – Solidarity in Art” exhibition was born out of a deep conviction that art possesses a transformative power. It not only opens up new perspectives on our lives and the world, but also connects us across religious and cultural boundaries. “Life in Crisis – Solidarity in Art” is a space of sound. It gives voices to those who suffer daily from the consequences of the climate crisis. It is intended to be a space where their stories can be told freely and without fear of repression. Art and spirituality are powerful forms of expression that inspire us to reflect on our actions and to experience hope and solidarity together.
