In November 2025, Columbus Stand Up! launched Lights Out on AEP, a grassroots effort to mobilize people across Central Ohio to demand the Public Utility Commission of Ohio reject AEP Ohio’s rate increase request. Since then, more than 2,000 people have done just that and dozens more showed up in person to testify at PUCO’s public hearings about the rate increase.

But rising electricity costs in Ohio are bigger than just one rate case and are not unique to Central Ohio. On January 27th at 10AM outside the Ohio State House, Columbus Stand Up will join consumers, workers, and business owners from across the state who are speaking out about increased electricity costs and the state government’s lack of commitment to invest in clean energy, costing Ohioans millions.
