We will meet with Senator Lea Webb on Wednesday, February 18th, from 3:00 - 3:30pm at her office in Ithaca, 217 N. Aurora St.

When we meet, we will discuss the importance of passing specific TAX THE RICH legislation. She sponsors two of the four bills already, so we want to push her to co-sponsor the Corporate Tax bill and the Fair Share Act (see details below). And we want YOU to show up for support and share a brief personal story about why taxing the ultra-wealthy for initiatives like Universal Childcare is important to you.

When you RSVP, you will be added to a Signal group chat where we will hash out the details of who shares what, so we enter this meeting with our own internal plan.

Sam Aldridge is the main point of contact for this, and if you have questions, please text him via Signal or regular at 607-376-1445. THANK YOU FOR JOINING ON THIS LOBBYING ADVENTURE.

Here are the two bills that we need Sen. Webb's support for as a Sponsor or Co-sponsor:

Revenue for funding Childcare:

● Corporate Tax on the Most Profitable Corporations (S.953-Hoylman/ A.1971-Kelles,
Shrestha). Corporations pay less in taxes now than they did in the 1990s. The corporate tax bill
ensures companies doing business in our state with over $2.5 million in profits pay what they
owe in taxes. This proposal would raise $7 billion annually.
● “Fair Share Act” (S.8577-Liu/A.8953-Souffrant Forrest) - Currently, New York City charges
essentially a flat income tax on its residents. If you earn $50,000 or $5 million, you pay
practically the same tax rate of roughly 3.9%. By adding a 2% surcharge to those with incomes
over $1m per year. This could raise $4 billion.
