Youth-led Rally for Proportional Representation

Start: Sunday, July 06, 202501:00 PM

Democracy Action Weekend

The 2024 election saw millions of people left without a voice in Parliament. This was not a standalone event. The 2025 local elections reinforced what we already know: our democracy is broken. Six in 10 people are now represented by an MP they did not vote for. We have a government elected on just a third of the vote, and Mayors who won with the backing of under 10% of their electorates.

We’ve had enough of tactical voting, safe seats and wasted votes. We need a voting system that builds trust, not destroys it. On the weekend 4-6 July 2025 - one year since the most disproportional general election in British history - people up and down the country will take action for real democracy.

We demand:

  • No more First Past the Post elections.
  • A proportional system where seats match votes.

In London, we're holding a rally near King's Cross Station. There will be inspiring speakers and a chance to make some noise and spread the word about the change we need.

This rally is organised by Young Make Votes Matter. Everyone, regardless of age, is welcome to attend!

Logistics

Meet us on Sunday 6th July at 1pm at Argyle Square Gardens near King's Cross Station.
We'll hear some speeches and march around the area, spreading the word about the need to fix our broken voting system.

This page will be updated with more details in the next few weeks; sign up to the event to receive more information about logistics, speakers and timings nearer the event.

Please let us know you're coming by signing up, and get in touch at team@makevotesmatter.org.uk with any questions you may have.
