Join us for our Semi-Annual Convention on Saturday, January 25th from 10:30AM to 4:30PM at Wishcamper Center, first floor, on Portland's USM campus! Please read the agenda below!
Masks are required and will be provided. This event will have hybrid capabilities for those who cannot make it in person. Zoom link will be sent via email when you RSVP.

10:30: Doors Open
11:00 - 12:30 MEMBER'S ONLY BUSINESS PORTION. We will be reviewing our elections, SC will vote on approval of our WG charter proposals with membership discussion, and membership will vote on amendment and committee proposals. (The agenda for this will be provided to membership only)
12:30 - 12:45 Break and open event to the public
12:45 - 1:30 Plenary: Hear from organizations like Maine Youth Power, Presente!, and more about a variety of issues to keep focused on in 2025 and how you can be supportive of their work.
1:30 - 2:30 Workshops + Art Build:
Organizing Fundamentals with Portland City Councilor and former Chapter Chair Wes P. and longtime MDSA member Joe D. An informal discussion of habits and strategies to organize people around shared goals and projects.
Portland Local Campaign Committee Discussion: An opportunity to chat about PLCC's next steps for 2025 and work with those involved with Portland Tenant's Union.
Art Build: Poster and flyer making, t-shirt printing (PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SHIRT), and banner building! This will be a continuous art build from 1:30 until we close up around 4 PM!
2:30 - 4:00 Panel:
A panel on "the working class and the ballot box: different socialist perspectives on bourgeois electoralism" with MDSA members and members of the Revolutionary Communists of America.
Midcoast Solidarity Campaign Discussion with BRO members: A breakout to discuss strategic orientation for the Midcoast Solidarity Campaign in 2025. While there has been a bit of discussion within the campaign/BRO about 2025 plans, this breakout would open up the discussion to wider MDSA membership for input and feedback with the hope that we may discuss broader housing/tenant organizing strategy for the chapter.
Art Build
4:00 - 4:30: Clean up and close up!
