Make an Impact: School Meals for ALL CT Children!
Start: 2024-03-26 10:00:00 UTC Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada) (GMT-04:00)
This is a virtual event
Thanks to Governor Lamont’s budget proposal, students who are eligible for reduced-priced meals will be able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to their families through the 2024-25 school year.
But this is not enough--because one in eight Connecticut children suffer from hunger. While Governor Lamont is ensuring that some of these children will be able to receive free meals at school, there are huge numbers whose families cannot afford the cost of meals for the whole school year.
Hungry kids don’t learn. Research shows us when meals are offered at no cost at school to everyone, there is less absenteeism, less bullying, and kids are more prepared to learn. Even students who eat something at home and get a school breakfast perform better on tests.
