March For Democracy - Los Angeles

Start: Wednesday, January 21, 2015 4:00 PM

We are planning a march for democracy to raise awareness about the disastrous Citizens United v FEC Supreme Court Decision.

  • 4pm      Speeches at Los Angeles TRIFORIUM (TEMPLE & MAIN ST. )
  • 4:30pm  March to the L.A. Chamber of Commerce (350 S. Bixel)
  • 5pm        Speeches on the steps of the L.A. Chamber of Commerce
  • 5:30pm  Teach-in at the Grantsmanship Center – Meeting Room (350 S. Bixel) We have the room until 7:30pm but will probably finish by 7.

Join us to hear speakers share how this decision has affected working families and all the other issues we care about, from mass incarceration, economic equality, the environment, etc. Learn what is happening in California and beyond and see where we can plug in to help.

We’ll also see film clips explaining both the historic Powell Memo that led to this trajectory as well as the Citizens United Decision.  We will end the teach-in with everyone writing a letter to the CA Supreme Court to demand Prop 49, the voter advisory to overturn Citizens United, be put on the 2016 ballot.

Our march route is most likely straight down Spring St. turning right on 3rd and walking over the 110 at rush hour with our messages (so bring signs that cars will be able to read).  It is a 20-30 minute walk.
