March for Workers' and Immigrant Rights, May 1
Start: Sunday, May 01, 2016•01:00 PM
Friends,
Please join me for an internationally recognized day of celebration for the workers' movement, the labor movement, and immigrant rights this Sunday, May 1. We will gather with labor sisters and brothers and communities to march under our education banner to be visible in our solidarity.
In March, our Human Rights Committee brought forward a resolution to promote and participate in the march and rally, which was passed by our executive board.
We'll meet up at 12:30 PM in the school parking lot before the rally and march begins so we can gather as a group. The march officially starts at 1 PM.
Family and friends are welcome. Please RSVP so we can get an idea of how many will attend or contact Richard Burton at206-432-8070 or 206-225-0621 or email him at rburton@aftwa.org.
This is also happening in Yakima which will have a historic sunrise-to-sunset march from Granger to Yakima to recreate the historic march of 1986 led by César Chávez advocating for workers’ rights and immigration reform. Click here to get details.
Hope to see you there! Wear blue!
In solidarity,
Karen Strickland, President
Tracy Lai, VP for Human Rights
