March: Make Them Pay

Start: Saturday, September 20, 202512:00 PM

End: Saturday, September 20, 202504:00 PM

Inequality is soaring, the climate is collapsing, and public services are at breaking point. We need huge public investment to tackle these problems – but we’re told again and again that there’s not enough money. Instead, the government has cut spending on aid, climate action, and public services.

But while we struggle, the super-rich are thriving at our expense. Their wealth is soaring and their power is undermining democracy. It's time to Make Them Pay.

Join us, the Equality Trust, and many other campaign groups who've joined the Make Them Pay coalition! We'll be making our voices heard, from charities and trade unions to those at the sharp end of inequality to demand taxes on the super rich.

The Goal

The autumn budget this year is going to be a crisis point. We need to show the government and our politicians that the only popular, effective, and fair option is to tax the rich and invest in people and planet.

Not only that, but this will be part of a global day of action ahead of COP30 to show the need and support for taxing polluters to tackle the climate crisis.

That's why this protest has three key demands:

  1. Tax the super-rich
  2. Protect workers, not billionaires
  3. Make polluters pay

The Plan

We'll be assembling from 12pm and marching to Parliament Square, where we'll be joined by speakers starting around 2:30pm for a rally.

Don’t live in London but want to join? Make Them Pay has coordinated coaches coming from across the country - find your nearest coach and sign up for a place here.

The demonstration will be police-liaised, legal and family-friendly with stewards to help keep everyone together.

The March

We estimate the march will take around 40 minutes to talk 1.7 miles along flat ground. There are public toilets located along the march route at Kingly Street, Piccadilly Circus underground station, and under Parliament Street at the end point of the march.

The Equality Trust will be joining the Social and Economic Justice Bloc, which includes long time friends Tax Justice UK, Oxfam, Amnesty International UK, Good Law Project, Peace and Justice Project, Positive Money, We Own It and many more.

We'll provide props, banners and signs, but please do bring your own as well!

We'll be chanting, cheering, and making noise, so bring bottled water to keep your vocal chords in good condition.

The Rally

Once we get to Parliament Square, we'll hear from speakers from across the movement, lead some chants, and take some photos together. We expect the rally to finish around 4pm.
