In Compass, we work to create the conditions for a society which is more equal, democratic, and sustainable.

As we approach the first York and North Yorkshire Combined Mayoral Election on 2nd May, we think it important for all progressive voters, whether Labour, Liberal Democrat,  Green or non-aligned,  to have the chance of an open conversation with the progressive candidates on how they plan to meet the challenge of delivering such a future.

In the 2022 North Yorkshire and 2023 City of York Council elections, there was a combined progressive majority vote, shared between Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Green party.

However, under our First-Past-the-Post voting system, this vote is split and risks handing power to a non-progressive minority. That’s why we need to understand from the candidates, their pledges for achieving the more equal, democratic and sustainable future in York and North Yorkshire that we all aim for.

At the same time the candidates need to know from you what will win your vote.

The Format of the meeting?  Think Question Time!

If you wish to submit a question, details of how you can do that will appear once you have sent your RSVP.

We hope this open conversation will enable you to decide which candidate you will vote for, or lend your vote to in the interest of not splitting the progressive vote.

There is limited space at the venue, so we will be checking tickets. Use the form on this page to register for a ticket.
