Climate Café is a time to get together, talk about climate, and participate in community action.

In community organizing, the words we choose shape who feels seen, invited, and ready to act. This interactive session explores how strategic naming and framing can transform isolated issues into broad community causes. Through real examples and small-group practice, participants will learn how to expand allies, navigate polarization, and reframe campaigns to center shared values.

Presenters:

Jada Weathers is the Communications Officer for the Beloved Community Center in Greensboro.  Jada graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with B.A. in English and an M.Ed. with a specialization in Urban Education.  She is also a singer/songwriter and poet.

Halima Opata is the Programs Officer for the Beloved Community Center in Greensboro. Halima graduated from NC A&T State University with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications with a concentration in mass media production. She is also a poet and spoken word artist.

Jada and Halima presented this workshop at the recent Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation Commission Summit organized by the Beloved Community Center at Bennett College,  February 2026. Triad Third Act believes that these are important ways of thinking, organizing and skills to develop as we get ready for the 2026 elections.
