✊ MAY DAY 2025 — OREGON STANDS UP FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Start: Thursday, May 01, 2025•04:30 PM

Across the country—and right here in Oregon—working people are rising up. From classrooms in Centennial to libraries in Gresham, from food pantries in East Portland to family businesses in outer SE—we are demanding a future that puts our communities over corporate greed.
We are standing up for fully funded public education, safe and thriving schools, and an Oregon where every student—no matter their ZIP code—gets the resources they need to succeed. That starts with funding the Quality Education Model (QEM) and protecting Title I by stopping the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education.
While billionaires like Elon Musk and politicians like Donald Trump push for privatization and profit, we’re fighting back—for our students, our families, and our future. They want to slash federal education funding, silence educators, and break the very systems designed to support our most vulnerable kids.
Not on our watch.
? Oregon still hasn't fully funded its own model for school success—the QEM—which outlines what our schools actually need. And now, federal threats to cut Title I funding and eliminate the Department of Education would hit our students even harder—especially those from historically underserved communities.
On May Day 2025, we’re coming together:
– Educators.
– Classified staff.
– Parents.
– Students.
– Community partners.
We will walk in, rally together, and make it clear:
Public schools are not for sale.
We demand investment, not abandonment.
Stop the billionaire takeover of public education.
This is more than a moment—it’s a movement. We're organizing not just for May Day, but for every day after, to build real power in our neighborhoods, our classrooms, and across Oregon.
Join us at the Centennial High School stadium on May 1st at 5 PM for a rally that brings together all voices who believe in the promise of public education.
