Mayor Muriel Bowser's RENTAL Act would further decimate the rights guaranteed to Washingtonians by the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), stripping these rights from huge swaths of tenants in both new developments and covenanted affordable housing throughout the District. The RENTAL Act also speeds up evictions, limits the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, allows slumlords to mass-serve eviction filings via email, and limits consumer protections relating to rental debts, among other attacks on tenants.

back and organizing against these attacks on TOPA. This will be one of many canvasses speaking to tenants in critical councilmember wards across the District.
This month, we'll be meeting at the Berkshire apartments in Ward 3 to let Councilmember Frumin know to oppose this bill.
