A walk through the FDR Meadows with organizers from Save The Meadows — as shown on CBS3 News!
What's happening in the Meadows? Join us this Sunday, Sept 28 at 2PM for a guided walk through 100 acres of vibrant meadows and peaceful woodlands in FDR Park.
We'll walk and talk as we take an easy hike through the meadows in the western half of FDR Park. Philadelphia's Parks & Rec department (PPR) and its partner the Fairmount Park Conservancy have already destroyed 75 acres of the Meadows. But 100 acres remain!
These meadows and woodlands are home to native and non-native species, threatened red-bellied cooter to bald eagles, and thousands of trees, some of them "heritage trees." PPR and FPC threaten to bulldoze nearly the entire area and install 32 acres of toxic turf as well as roads and parking lots — but they can be stopped!
