Meet Tahirah Amatul-Wadud, Candidate for Congress running against US Rep. Richie Neal to represent the constituents of CD-1. Tahirah is the first serious challenger to Richie Neal in a number of years. Richie Neal has 'represented' - I use the term loosely - constituents in Congressional District 1 for practically 30 years and what have we gotten? - a new train station in Springfield. Not enough. Not nearly enough! It's next to impossible to get Richie to talk to his constituents in Franklin County, as he is quite comfortable with his base of support in Springfield, where he was mayor a long time ago. Tahirah, on the other hand, is extremely interested in the issues which affect us: no broadband, insufficient funding for our schools, the crises facing our local farmers, and the need for single payer healthcare.
