What is the Migrants' Summit?
The Migrants' Summit will address recent changes to Canadian immigration policy, their impact on migrant workers, international students, refugees, and permanent residency seekers. The discussion will focus on the UN report on Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) as a “breeding ground for contemporary forms of slavery” and examine how imperialism exacerbates migrant issues.
This Summit is organized and supported by Migrante BC, Migrant Students United at SFU, Nikkei Vancouver for Justice, Sanctuary Health, United Migrant Front, and International Migrants Alliance (IMA) Canada.
What is to be expected?
- Raise awareness of immigration policy changes and their impact on migrants.
- Unite migrant communities and organizations in advocacy.
- Equip migrants with knowledge and tools to navigate these changes.
- Foster solidarity and multilateral collaboration among migrant justice organizations.
