On September 26th, dozens of organizations are coming together to organize the next Climate Justice Town Hall in New York, the largest locally-focused movement event of Climate Week.
7 months into Trump's presidency, as the Administration continues to unlawfully defund life-saving programs that aid communities after extreme climate disasters, threaten laws intended to prevent such disasters, and strip protections meant to safeguard our climate and stop catastrophic warming, New York Leaders have a chance to step up and lead the country in taking action to tackle the climate crisis.
New Yorkers are ready for bold, progressive legislation and leadership to ensure our city doesn't roll over to meet the demands of a fascist president who denies what we all know to be true--that the climate crisis is right here, right now.
Unfortunately, the reality is that Governor Hochul is instead siding with Trump, accelerating a fossil fuel pipeline through our city, reneging on our climate goals across the board, and slowing progress on renewable energy buildout.
At the end of NYC Climate Week, hundreds of New Yorkers and organizations representing the leadership of the local climate justice movement—joined by Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado and movement leader Bill McKibben, and others—will be gathering to chart a reality of a New York that stands up, not capitulates, to Trump on climate.
Doors open at 4:30pm, Town Hall starts at 5:00pm.
Let's plan for the future we deserve.
