The AmeriCorps network of alumni and supporters are hosting events across the country to inform Members of Congress of the urgency of restoring AmeriCorps. They need to hear from you.
Actions of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have resulted in the cancellation of approximately $400 million in AmeriCorps grants — around 40 percent of the agency's annual budget. This decision has affected over 1,000 organizations and more than 32,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers across the country. Hundreds of NCCC members have been demobilized, and most of AmeriCorps' full-time staff are facing layoffs.
We are not powerless in the face of these cuts. We know how to connect, how to serve, and how to speak up for what's right.
We are going to #StandForService in New York State at our virtual event on JUNE 18 at 7PM.
Featured speaker: NY-20 Representative Paul Tonko
- Wednesday June 18, 7PM
- Via Zoom
- Please register to receive the Zoom invite!
- Our event will have two stages:
- The first half of our event is a rally celebrating the core principles and ideals of AmeriCorps. U.S. Congressman Paul Tonko will join us to testify to the importance of AmeriCorps for New York State.
- Then we will move into breakout groups to brainstorm and write our individual letters, using a New York-specific template to get started. The more letters, the better! Please join us!
