Newark and Sherwood Green Party AGM

Dear Esteemed Green Party Member, (Congratulations on your membership)

Newark and Sherwood Green Party’s AGM is on:

Monday, February 16th., 6.00pm at Barnby Road Academy, John Gold Road/Barnby Gate (or Road) in Newark, NG24 1RU.

Please note these details on your new 2026 calendar.

At the AGM, we shall be electing officers, for example: chairperson, secretary, treasurer, membership secretary, campaigns officer, publicity officer (an agenda will follow later.).

We want officers who will listen to the membership, who are keen and ambitious, who will raise the local Green Party profile, care for the local community, increase the Party’s votes and get its candidates elected.

(Hey, do you fancy becoming a Green Party candidate? If so come to the meeting and make yourself known.)

Is an AGM an exciting meeting? “No” you will say.

Andy Cooper

After the AGM business, our guest speaker is Andy Cooper from Huddersfield.

Andy has been re-elected seven times to Kirklees Council. He proposed the Warmzone Scheme which insulated over 50,000 houses. Perhaps he can tell us how we can do that here.

Andy came second (10,568) to Labour (15,101) in the Parliamentary election, 2024 - Reform UK nowhere, the rest nowhere. He stands a good chance of getting elected to Parliament next time.

Andy is a cheerful character and I’m sure that he will strengthen our optimism for our campaigns in Newark and Sherwood. He will be well worth listening to.
