Non-Monogamy at the Margins: Intersectional Identities and Queering Relationships

Queer communities have long challenged conventional ideas about gender, sexuality, and family. But what happens when we apply those same questions to our relationships, movements, and the communities we build together?

This panel brings together voices from across non-monogamous, QTBIPOC, neurodivergent, disabled, and other marginalized communities to explore identity, inclusion, gatekeeping, and solidarity. Together, we'll examine how community boundaries are formed, whose experiences are recognized, and what it means to build movements rooted in dignity, self-determination, and collective liberation.

Join us Wednesday, July 8th, from 12:30 - 2:00 PM Pacific / 3:30 - 5:00 PM Eastern for a lively and challenging discussion with Raquelle A. Smartt, Alyssa Gonzalez, Jessica Daylover, and Ebony Hagans, moderated by Jessa Davis.

Panelists:

Raquelle A. Smartt (she/her) is the C.O.O. of Smartt Love Therapy and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In her practice, she specializes in Prenatal and Postpartum Women as well as the Polyamorous/Non-monogamous community. She provides her reflections on life, relationships, and womanhood on her YouTube Channel and Blog, LifeIsRocqi. She is also a published poet with her book, The Roots Beneath The Tree: A Book of Poetry by Ashley Raquelle. Raquelle lives in Oakland, California with her husband and 3 year old daughter. To celebrate the Week of Visibility for Nonmonogamy, Smartt Love Therapy will be hosting their first Black & Poly Picnic.

Alyssa Gonzalez (she/her) is a writer and professional speaker on non-monogamy, trans issues, neurodivergence, atheism, biology, and other matters close to her experience. She is the author of Nonmonogamy and Neurodiversity (Thornapple Press), blogs at the-orbit.net/alyssa, and keeps a running tally of her science-writing and fiction credits at alyssacgonzalez.com. She lives in Ottawa, Ontario with a menagerie of pets.

Ebony Hagans (they/them) is the founder of Marjani Lane, a platform dedicated to exploring nonmonogamy, consent, relationship autonomy, and intersectionality. Through educational content, writing, and community engagement, they have cultivated an audience seeking conversations about alternative relationship structures. Drawing from their experiences as a Black, queer parent, disabled veteran, and transportation professional, Ebony offers a grounded perspective on the realities of building relationships outside conventional norms.

Jessica Daylover is an educator, producer, entertainer, mystic, and a mother who practices Relationship Anarchy in all areas of her life. An entrepreneur since 2008, Jessica is most proud of her app called Nuclear Fusion Network, which helps folks build real, local, interdependent communities with care, courage, and accountability. Jessica’s work is rooted in expanding the cultural narrative on love, family, and parenthood—an expression of her Sagittarius Sun paired with a Cancer Moon and Ascendant, and a deep belief that connection is the true elixir of life.

Jessa Davis (she/her) is the Executive Director of OPEN, a founder of the Seattle Coalition for Family & Relationship Equity (SCFRE), and an activist and community organizer deeply involved in issues related to queer liberation, mutual aid, and health, labor, and housing justice in Seattle and across the Pacific Northwest.
