North Olympic Peninsula Salish Sea Day of Action Featuring Dana Lyons

Start: Saturday, September 15, 2018 2:00 PM

End: Saturday, September 15, 2018 4:00 PM

Our Salish Sea is under assault.  Fossil fuel projects and accelerating human activity and development are contributing to pollution, climate change and ocean acidification.  On September 15th, please join us for a powerful Salish Sea Day of Action event.

We will gather together to raise awareness on how we all can help Save the Salish Sea at an event featuring song, art, and education. Musician Dana Lyons will perform his original songs about the Salish Sea (check out this video of one of his songs about the Salish Sea here), and leaders in the community will share the challenges the Salish Sea faces and how we all can protect it. The family-friendly event will also include inter-generational art creation and information tables.

Please bring a lawn chair to guarantee yourself a seat!

This event is co-sponsored by Sierra Club North Olympic Group, Local 20/20, QUUF Green Sanctuary Environmental Action, and Olympic Climate Action. It will take place at Pope Marine Park at the intersection of Madison and Water Streets in Port Townsend (note that the map on this page does not show the correct location.)

Additionally, for those interested in direct action before the event, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center is hosting an International Coastal Cleanup day from 12 pm – 4 pm on the same day, September 15th. Go to PTMSC.org for more information.

Our local community is joining other communities around the bioregion to build broader awareness and advocacy around protection for our Sacred Sea and all living creatures.    While the sea itself may separate us physically, we are uniting to face these growing threats together.  #WeAretheWater
