All are welcome to join us on Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 7:00pm via Zoom for the NYC Poor People's Campaign's January Open Meeting! We will reflect on the recent events of the National Union of the Homeless' Winter Offensive, why homeless organizing and a movement to end poverty led by the poor is so important to this moment we are in, and preview the upcoming Winter Offensive week of action and the NYS PPC eviction defense training.

Register here, and if you can, please take a moment to fill out the survey questions so we know which recent events you have taken part in.

We hope everyone who is attending the meeting has been able to watch/participate in one of the events listed here as we will be sharing our reflections during the meeting. However, this is not a requirement to attend — all are welcome! Also, if you have any issues accessing the tech please let us know — we have text-based documents covering the work of the National Union of the Homeless and we would be happy to send them your way. This meeting will be held virtually on Zoom, closed captioning will be provided, and there will be a dial-in number as well.

More on the Winter Offensive: This winter season, the NYS Poor People's Campaign is joining with the National Union of the Homeless and other partners in the Winter Offensive: a series of actions and events confronting the distorted narratives about poverty and homelessness, and demonstrating the revolutionary power of the poor and dispossessed when we unite around demands for economic and social justice for all.

Power, Not Pity!
Change, Not Charity!
Homeless, Not Helpless!

This is a time of year when much of the country engages in a civic religious ritual with special attention given to the poor and homeless. In this season, poor and homeless people are treated as objects of pity and charity, and the events of the Winter Offensive will instead demonstrate that the poor and dispossessed CAN and ARE organized to be agents of change and subjects of history.
