NY Renews, the Renewable Heat Now campaign, and others are joining GreenFaith for an action to defend the climate law entitled: "Creating a Beautiful World with Energy From Heaven"!
Join us to defend New York’s landmark climate law from political pressure and fossil fuel giveaways.
As the state budget process drags on, the Governor is ramping up pressure on legislators to weaken our climate commitments and bail out the fossil fuel industry, at the expense of clean, affordable energy for New Yorkers.
We cannot afford to go backwards.
Our climate law was hard-won, and it represents a promise: to lower costs, protect our health, and build a livable future. Any rollback is a betrayal of that promise.
We’re calling on our legislators to hold the line. Stay strong. Stay loud. And stand with the people—not polluters.
No changes to our climate law. No compromise with our future.
Show up. Speak out. Let’s make it clear: New Yorkers are watching, and we’re not backing down.
WHO:
GreenFaith will be joined by NY Renews, Renewable Heat Now, Sane Energy Project, Food & Water Watch, New Yorkers for Clean Power, Rise and Resist, 350Brooklyn, Make the Road, Climate Clock, Quaker Activism, (list in formation)
WHAT:
Rally to Defend New York’s Climate Law
WHERE:
Union Square (across from Whole Foods)
WHEN:
Thursday, April 16 at 12:00 PM
WHY:
As the state budget process is delayed, the Governor is increasing pressure on legislators to weaken New York’s climate law and prioritize fossil fuel industry bailouts over clean, affordable energy.
Greenfaith asks that you come wearing bright, springy colors -- and your religious vestments if you have -- as we make a joyous heavenly scene and say no to the hellish and greed-filled world of oil, gas, and coal.
We’re calling on legislators to hold the line.
No changes to our climate law. No compromise with our future.
