Join the O Canada Solidarity Serenade Detroit!
We love our neighbors to the north (or south, depending) just as they are: strong and free. Join us in a Solidarity Serenade in honor of Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1. We will assemble at the Riverwalk Garden Rooms (off of Atwater, near the foot of St. Antoine), then walk up St. Antoine to the Canadian Consulate at 600 Ren Cen. Outside the building, we will do our best to sing O Canada. Before departing, we will leave greetings for them to read after their holiday closure. You can learn and practice singing O Canada here. For more information (or help finding us!) call or text Catherine at 734-480-8508
Why?
The United States and Canada have a long history of friendship, trade, cooperation, and trust. The two countries have forged military alliances. Canada is the United States’ largest trading partner. Close ties exist between the U.S. and Canada in the arts and entertainment, as well as sports. Yet the bonds between the two countries have become needlessly strained as President Donald Trump has imposed punitive tariffs on Canadian goods and insultingly called for Canada to lose its independence and become America’s 51st state.
