Hosted by Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, Transport Oakland, Bike East Bay, San Antonio Station Alliance, East Bay Transit Riders Union, and Transbay Coalition.

Confirmed candidates in attendance: Charlene Wang, Kanitha Matoury, Harold Lowe, Rev. Kenneth Anderson, PH.D, and Kara Murray-Badal

About the Candidates (bios provided by the candidates):

Charlene is a public servant who helped expand greenways and safe bike/ped infrastructure as a Biden Department of Transportation appointee. She previously worked to launch fare-free mass transit in Boston. A car-free Oaklander herself, Charlene understands the importance of transit-oriented development and safe trails. Charlene is endorsed by transit and bike safety leaders throughout District 2 because she'll fight for streamlined traffic calming permits, a protected Lakeshore bike lane, and a San Antonio BART station.

Kanitha Matoury is a small business owner, mother, political refugee, and U.S. Air Force veteran running to represent District 2 in Oakland's April 15th special election.

Dr. Rev Kenneth Anderson is the Senior Pastor of Williams Chapel Baptist Church in Oakland, CA, where he has led community service initiatives since 2010. With 15 years of dedicated service in District 2, I advocate for housing stability, public safety, and support for local churches and businesses. Passionate about expanding sustainable housing options for seniors, I work to ensure vulnerable residents have access to safe and affordable living. Committed to collaboration, I strive to empower all residents to actively shape the future of our community.

Kara Murray-Badal is a lifelong Oaklander and District 2 resident.
