OGDEN, UT—Socialist Night School | What is Socialism?

Start: Sunday, November 23, 202503:00 PM

End: Sunday, November 23, 202505:00 PM

This is our first time hosting the Socialist Night School Political Education and Social series in Ogden,UT! Members are encouraged to attend; non-members are welcome. Socialist Night School is a political education discussion group to increase people’s understanding of socialism as a political horizon, the role of socialists in a mass movement, and how workers can form organizations to pursue socialism. When we develop ourselves politically as members of DSA, we become more knowledgeable and effective, elevating our democratic decision-making as a whole chapter.

These are discussions, not lectures, so come ready to contribute your own politics and perspective in a productive, collaborative learning environment. The readings are intended to be accessible and short, generally taking less than an hour to read in total.

Readings for the first discussion:

Democratic socialism, explained by a democratic socialist by Meagan Day

Building Socialism from Below: Popular Power and the State by Ben Tarnoff

(Optional) Socialism for Realists Abridged by Sam Gindin

The discussion portion is an hour long, but we encourage you to stick around afterwards to get to know other chapter members personally and build community.
