On August 11, 2026, the District of Columbia will have been under hostile military occupation for one year. For a year now, DC communities have had armed soldiers patrolling our streets, surges of federal police, multiple attacks on our local laws, and threats from this president against our elected leaders.

This occupation has hurt thousands of people. Agents have killed innocent people, kidnapped workers and parents, chased and harassed children, violated our rights, and spread a campaign of racial terror. This occupation is an ongoing threat to DC’s safety, our families, and our democracy both here and across the country.

As we approach the one-year mark of this occupation, we chose to raise our voices in solidarity and make our stories heard.
For 11 days, from August 1 through August 11, join us to reclaim the DC spaces that have been sites of this regime’s attacks. On each of these days we will highlight a different story from DC’s occupation, come together in solidarity across movements, and focus on the people who are complicit with the regime and making these attacks possible.
