This is a virtual event
Come learn about the Blue Scarf peace movement around the world, and hear from many voices speaking out to protect the land, water, air and life. Often we have walked together through the streets of Toronto, but this year, due to the coronavirus crisis, we have turned our celebration into a virtual event. We invite people from across Canada and around the world to join us, to listen, share and re-commit ourselves to the earth and her inhabitants.
Speakers include:
- Erin O'Connor from Camp Micah: Leadership for Peace and Justice
- Natalie Maxson with Christian Peacemaker Teams, who will speak about her solidarity experience with the Wet'suwet'en pipeline action in British Columbia
- Father Bob Holmes, who will speak about the meaning of the blue peace scarf
- Sister Mary-Ellen Francoeur of Pax Christi Toronto
- Aloysius Wong is the Central Ontario Youth Rep of Development and Peace, the Canadian member organization of Caritas Internationalis
- Beth Lorimer, speaking about the Faith-based Initiative for Climate Justice
- Grandmother Dorene Bernard will speak on behalf of KAIROS about the recent court victory against Alton Gas
- Shannon Neufeldt of KAIROS will make an announcement regarding For the Love of Creation
- Pax Christi members Angela Orellana Schwalm and Jane Sagar, who will present on behalf of Pax Christi, with a focus on Pope Francis' Encyclical Laudato Si; On Care for our Common Home
