Take action to oppose the expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre!

The Home Office is seeking permission to expand Haslar IRC in Gosport from a planned capacity of 130 people to 600 people – before the centre has even reopened.This isn't just a local issue. People can be detained at Haslar from anywhere in the UK, and the impacts of immigration detention are felt by individuals, families and communities across the country.

There is a public consultation which is now open until 6 August at 11:59pm. Anyone can submit an objection.

We've written a blog explaining what's being proposed, why it matters, and how you can take action. We'll also be sharing a template objection to help people make meaningful submissions as soon as possible.

On 29 July, between 7 - 8pm, we will hold an online meeting to better understand what is being proposed for the expansion of Haslar Immigration Removal Centre, and how you can make representations against it through the government consultation.

This will include resources to support your representation.

We will also hear from These Walls Must Fall campaigners about their experience of detention, and the deep and lasting harm detention causes.
