Training: 1-on-1 Organizing Conversations & Onboarding [Membership Committee Meeting]

Start: Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 12:00 AM GMT

A link to attend this virtual event will be emailed upon RSVP

The basic building block of every movement and organization on the political left, and beyond, are the connections we make with each other. We can use these to organize ourselves and our communities to fight for working-class people across the board, from healthcare and housing to voting rights and unions/workers' rights. If we want our movement to grow, it is crucial that we become skilled at having such conversations, identifying shared self-interest and solidarity, and growing that connection into something deeper and more impactful. That will be the focus of our first Membership Committee Organizing Training, in what will be a series of trainings!

In this training, you will learn:

  • What is power, and where does our power come from?
  • Why one-on-one organizing conversations are such a powerful, necessary tool to build our movement
  • How to successfully prepare for, engage in, and follow-up on these conversations
  • How to use this style of conversation to onboard prospective members, and what to do immediately afterwards to connect them to our committees, work, and movement at-large

This meeting will be held over Zoom, since 8:00 PM is late for a weeknight. But, these sort of conversations are often best held in-person. So, if you would prefer to attend in person, please check that box on the RSVP form. We can host a physical location with a hybrid set-up in Hamilton.

We look forward to seeing you the evening of June 3rd!

In Solidarity,

Joe Marchica, Membership Committee Co-Chair, and host for this training
