Paddle Against Petro with us! Top executives from the fracking and petrochemical industries will be in Pittsburgh at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center - and we want them to know they are not welcome!
Two ways to participate: land action, or water action -- Read below for details
LAND ACTION
Where: Three Rivers Heritage Trail outside of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
When: meet at 10:00am
What: Press Conference and Rally
A note to participants: Bring your best signs and your fighting spirit, and send a strong message that the petrochemical industry and the related fracking industry is not welcome in our economic future.
WATER ACTION
(Please read carefully, there are many steps!)
Paddler Orientation/Participant Meeting - Mandatory for all Paddlers
Where: Kayak Pittsburgh North Shore Launch site (1 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 - the launch is beneath the Roberto Clemente/6th Street Bridge)
When: 8:30am
What: We will be going over logistics for the kayaction as well as reviewing plans for safety. This is where you'll get your paddling orders. It is important that everyone participating in the kayaction attend this orientation.
If you are bringing your own kayak...
You may choose to launch your kayak initially from a different location - feel free to do so! Orientation is required for all paddlers, so be sure to be by the Kayak Pittsburgh North Shore Launch site by 8:30am. This is a public launch space.
If you are In Need of a Kayak...
You must meet for the Paddler Orientation at 8:30am. We are working on supplying kayaks and other rivercraft for you.
