Community Peacemaker Teams places teams at the invitation of local peacemaking communities that are confronting situations of lethal conflict. These teams support and amplify the voices of local peacemakers who risk injury and death by waging nonviolent direct action to confront systems of violence and oppression. CPT's mission is to build partnerships to transform violence and oppression.

David Blair joined a Community Peacemaker Team (CPT) in Iraqi Kurdistan in October.  CPT responds to the invitations of communities confronting situations of lethal conflict. These teams support and amplify the voices of local peacemakers who are risking injury and death by waging nonviolent direct action to confront and transform systems of violence and oppression.

David traveled to the Mexican border last year with CPT, and to Iraqi Kurdistan this fall. The delegation witnessed the work of CPT team members to document cross border attacks by Turkey and Iran which have caused death, damage and displacement; and to support journalists and civil society activists who are persecuted by the Kurdish Regional Government.
