Etan Mabourakh from the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) joins us to talk about the current situation in Iran. That will include the U.S./Israel attacks on Iran, what's happening inside the country, and the broader effects and issues.  

Etan Mabourakh is a Jewish Iranian American political strategist, community organizer, and advocate for the Iranian American diaspora. He currently serves as Organizing Manager at the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and as a Board Member at Brooklyn For Peace. Etan’s advocacy sits at the intersection of anti-war organizing, civil rights, and immigrant justice. At NIAC, he leads grassroots mobilization across the country — running a nationwide volunteer chapter network, Know Your Rights trainings, deportation defense workshops, pro-peace campaigns and community organizing in response to the targeting of Iranian Americans by ICE and the U.S. war against Iran. He has advocated for War Powers Resolutions to reassert Congressional authority over the use of military force, opposed U.S. complicity in war crimes, and supported Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block weapons transfers to Israel. Quoted in the New York Times, CNN, Middle East Eye, Gothamist and Truthout, and has appeared on WBAI’s Beyond the Pale, in an interview with Tara Riva, the Katie Halper Show, and Breaking Points bringing the Iranian American community’s perspective into national and international conversations on war, diplomacy, and diaspora rights.
