Activists within Latin America have written a sign-on letter to Pfizer, demanding that Pfizer shares the science through licensing and allows access to generic Paxlovid in the region. For versions of the letter in English and Spanish, please see: https://aisperu.org.pe/peticion-a-pfizer/.  

While Paxlovid is the most effective treatment for people diagnosed with Covid, many countries in Latin America have been excluded from generic licensing agreements, meaning that the generic versions of the drug are not available in Latin America, and the brand-name remains too expensive.

This letter is the latest development in campaigns originating in Latin America that call for increased access to the life-saving drug.

People around the world are supporting this demand and activists in Peru, Colombia, Chile, and the US are planning in-person protests as well as letter deliveries this Thursday, 10 November.
