ACCE - Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment

This Saturday, March 28th, immediately following the Oakland No Kings Day March, join ACCE (Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment), the Reclaim Our Power: Utility Justice Campaign, and our allies in demanding that PG&E cancel their multi-million dollar contract with Palantir.

As customers of PG&E, a for-profit, investor-owned utility monopoly, we believe that our utility bill payments should go to keeping the lights on, not funding family separations, community terror and genocide.

Program:

  • 12:00 - 2:30 pm: Oakland No Kings March from Oscar Grant Plaza (Frank Ogawa Plaza / Oakland City Hall) to the Lake Merritt Amphitheater (between 12th Street & 1st Ave on Lake Merritt Blvd).
  • 2:30 - 2:45 pm: Upon conclusion of the March, there will be a short program at Lake Merritt Amphitheater about our demand for PG&E to end their contract with Palantir.
  • 2:45 - 3:15 pm: We will march north along the west side of the Lake to PG&E headquarters, which is located at 300 Lakeside Drive, at the intersection of Harrison Street and Lakeside Drive, across from Snow Park.
  • 3:15 - 3:30 pm: Short speaking program, rally, chanting and group picture.
  • 3:30 - 3:45 pm: We will leave a message using washable sidewalk chalk, demanding that PG&E cancel their Palantir contract today!

How does Palantir profit from ICE kidnapping and genocide in Palestine?

PG&E claims that their contract with Palantir is to better integrate data in order to improve wildfire risk management and improve grid safety and resilience.

Here's what PG&E is not telling us. Led by multi-billionaire CEO and MAGA mega-funder Peter Thiel, Palantir has multi-million dollar contracts with ICE and both the U.S. and Israeli militaries, and is complicit with the genocide of people in Gaza and Palestine.

Palantir built and profits from the surveillance and data infrastructure that powers ICE kidnapping operations, which are tearing our families apart and wreaking havoc on our communities. Immigration enforcement uses Palantir to centralize data that can include our known addresses, phone numbers, driving records, credit history, immigration history, health data, and social media presence, all in one place. Palantir’s tools have fueled some of the largest raids on immigrant communities in ICE’s history.

Palantir's complicity in  Israel's war crimes and genocide in Gaza is evident in its unwavering, ongoing technological and ideological support for the Israeli military. In the wake of Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza, the company aligned itself with the Israeli military, equipping its operations in Gaza with cutting-edge technologies. Even in light of the International Court of Justice’s legally-binding rulings in 2024 to prevent Israel’s plausible genocide in Gaza, as well as its July 19, 2024 Advisory Opinion affirming Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid system, Palantir has not only failed its obligation to avoid complicity in genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, but may be accused of incitement to all these as well.

Clean, affordable energy is a human right. Paying for energy should not result in human rights violations of our neighbors, families and community members here and around the world. No one is illegal on stolen land.

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

If you have accessibility or mobility needs and are unable to march from the Lake Merritt Amphitheater, meet up with Marcus from ACCE at Port Labs, located at 2044 Franklin St. at 2:30 pm. Folks will make their way to the PG&E headquarters together from there.
