Philadovephia Story Circles

Start: Sunday, January 29, 2017 7:00 PM

End: Sunday, January 29, 201710:00 PM

Every January, the President delivers a State of the Union address highlighting important issues from the past year and suggesting priorities for the coming year. It’s a broadcast from one to many. But democracy is a conversation, not a monologue. Understanding the state of our union takes We the People reflecting in our own communities on our challenges and opportunities locally, nationally, and globally.

As we come together more and more to consider how we cultivate a peaceful and safe society in the wake of past, present, and future acts of violence, it is important to appreciate and celebrate the people and spaces in our lives that help foster an internal state of peace and rejuvenate the healing energy needed to combat the challenges that lie ahead.

Join us for Philadovephia story circles to share stories of where and when you find peace in Philadelphia, and to help create an installation of doves that visually represent these stories.

Doves not only symbolize love and peace, but are also skilled message carriers- doves are pigeons after all, and share the same homing ability. Through these activities we will come together in appreciating each other's stories about our varied sanctuaries throughout the city, and through shared reflection begin to project messages of peace and tranquility into these spaces.
