Over the last year, there have been over 500 people killed which is 30% higher than last year. The majority are young, black men.

We are already spending over 40% of the city budget on police. Every day, over $4.5 million of the City’s budget is spent on policing. That’s $1.8 billion every year that we give to CPD. That’s the most out of any city in the country and yet the violence is not decreasing in Chicago.

However, here’s how little we spend on community resources across Chicago:

Drug Treatment = $9 million per year

Mental Health Services = $21 million per year

Homeless Services = $49 million per year
